When God Answers Prayers...

What a whirlwind pregnancy is all of itself. The hormones, the back aches, the waiting for your bundle of joy to make an entrance. But, what happens when there is a hiccup in your pregnancy? It is scary. You automatically think of your unborn child. The love you already have for them. The worry of everything being okay. This is where we were for a few months and it was horrid.

I had a normal pregnancy, just like my first two. Go to my doctors appointment each month, do the routine check-up, everything looks good.... See you next month. Get blood drawn, do the glucose test... The normal pregnancy fun.

That was until 26 weeks.

I headed to my blood draw for my 26 week antibody screening and glucose test. The joy. I hadn't eaten for 12 hours, which I think is cruel to pregnant women in the first place, gulped down my orange glucose juice, sat for an hour, got my blood drawn and went home. Easy Peasy. No problem. I had done it all before.

A few days later I received a call from my doctors office. The receptionist said I needed to reschedule another blood draw because something strange had come back on my results.

"What does that mean?" I asked.
"Let me put you through to the nurse." She said.

I waited a few minutes and the nurse got on the line.

She said, "There are no worries as of now. Your antibody test came back with some odd results, so we want to redraw your blood to make sure it wasn't a fluke."

Of course I started to worry.

After my next doctors appointment, and some confusing information, I rescheduled a blood draw and headed to the lab a few days later.

Two weeks after the blood draw AND after my doctors appointment, I get another dreaded call. This time, the doctor and the nurse on the line. Grreeat! This means good news. Not!

"Your results came back again. There is an antibody in your blood can could potentially mix with your baby's and could be a problem. This wouldn't be an issue, but you are Rh Positive, so there should be no antibodies in your blood. We haven't seen anything like this. We are going to schedule you an appointment with a specialist and see what are our options are from there."

A few days later, a routine doctors appointment.

"What are the options with this?" I ask the doctor.
"Your baby could be premature. She may be jaundice and anemic at birth." After he kept naming things that could potentially go wrong, the room got small and his voice started to sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown. Blood transfusions? Premature? Anemia? My baby going through tests and shots? I was supposed to have a normal pregnancy. This was going so good! What happened?

For weeks, we were on pins and needles. We went back and forth to the doctor and to the lab for blood work. We prayed. We cried. We worried. I began reading my bible while sitting on the back deck while the boys played in the yard, looking for answers from God. I sat on the porch swing and prayed. Not sure for what outcome? A healthy baby. A healthy mom. I cried some more and prayed some more.

4 days after my 33 week doctors appointment, Lyndon and I headed to Sacramento to a Perinatal Specialist for an ultrasound. The ultrasound was to determine how Olivia's kidneys and liver were functioning, how the blood flow was from me to her, and overall, the delivery date. Did we need to be rushed to the hospital that day, at 33 weeks pregnant, and deliver her or could I keep her in for a couple more weeks?

We sat in the cold waiting room, hand in hand. I was almost in tears the whole time, terrified. I prayed the Lord would let her stay in my belly for a couple more weeks.

We were called back to the ultrasound room. The technician did her overall evaluation of Olivia. She was big. Measuring a week and a half bigger than she was supposed to be. We were thrilled. If anything, she was bigger than she needed to be. Praise God! But, obviously, the tech gives no answers, she just takes pictures.

When the tech left the room, Lyndon and I stared at each other, waiting for the specialist to come talk to us about the results. When are we delivering? What is wrong with my baby? Are her kidneys and liver okay!? We sat in the ultrasound room, lights dimmed, staring at the screen of our baby inside me. Hand in hand we prayed. Is it going to be okay....?

The specialist made her way in to the room and introduced herself.

"So, do you know why your doctor sent you here today?"

I explained my understand about my blood.

She looked at us and smiled.

"This antibody in your blood isn't effecting your baby at all." She said. "You have a perfectly healthy baby. She is big. Everything is functioning like it should. Go enjoy your pregnancy."

I burst into tears. Lyndon started asking questions to the specialist. I couldn't tell you what he asked. All I heard was my baby was okay.

My baby is healthy!

Praise God!

We left the specialists office and hit the button for the elevator. Lyndon and I stood in the hallway outside the office embracing each other for a few minutes and shed some tears. For months we had been worried about our little girl. For months we had prayed for an outcome and THIS was even better than any outcome we could have ever imagined.

I cried for a good hour on the ride home. I called family members and told them the good news.

I thank God every day for these answered prayers and when Olivia is kicking inside of me, like she is as I type this, I praise God. I am reminded what He can do.

With only a few more weeks left in this pregnancy, I still worry. I still pray for her safety. But, God answers prayers. He is with us, each and every step of this journey.

Baby #3: 32 Weeks

I am really slacking on updates on Miss Olivia! My last update was at 27 weeks, 5 weeks ago! Yikes! Lots of things have happened since then. Here are some updates on my pregnancy this week.

32 Weeks:

About Olivia: She is weighing around 4 pounds and is about 17 inches in length. She is gaining about 1/2 a pound per week from now until 38 weeks. Lots of growing, for Olivia and for mommy! She has been getting hiccups on a daily basis, sometimes twice a day. I'm not sure if she likes them because she tends to kick like crazy when she has them. Her kicks are slowing down, but I'm still getting the same amount of movement. She is a wiggler!

Weight Gain: From beginning weight: 22 Pounds

Symptoms: Sleepiness. I think all this growing is making me tired! Achy hips. They are spreading quickly now, so my hips are paying a price. Braxton Hicks contractions. Oh, BH contractions.... Every pregnancy I deal with these. I have been getting them in the morning and evening, usually when I'm tired.

Sleep: I am up about 3 times a night to use the restroom, so I am not getting a full night of sleep. I try to lay my head down for about 20 minutes a day and shut my eyes while the boys watch a TV show. It helps, but I'm still pretty tired.

Cravings: Nothing much right now.

Looking Forward To: Hitting 37 weeks, full term.

Favorite Moment: All those crazy kicks! And, getting down to single digit weeks!!! :)

32 Weeks Down. 8 Weeks to Go.

School Pictures 2015

School is about to start! Can you believe it?! This summer flew by so fast! I figured it would drag on because I am pregnant, but I'm not sure where the summer went! It flew by!

Alden will be going to preschool this year at a private preschool in town. His teacher goes to church with us and has been with his in the nursery and taught him at Jump Start, so he is very comfortable with her. We recently got him school jeans and school shoes and a lunch box. So he is ready to go!

He will be going Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8 AM - Noon. My baby is growing up so fast.

Alden: Age 4 (Pre-K)

Collyn will be homeschooling this year with mommy. Just like Alden did last year. We will be doing school on Mondays and Wednesdays while Alden is at school. We will probably do school from 10-11 AM. I have homeschool curriculum that I use and we also use ABCMouse.com, which we absolutely love. So, I will teach him for 45 minutes to an hour and then he will finish up with computer time.

Collyn Age: 3 (Preschool)

Bowling Night!

Last week, we went bowling with the youth group in Chico, CA.

Our plan was to go mini-golfing, but it was 108 degrees outside, so we decided bowling was a better option.

8 youth kids went that night.

This was the first time Alden and Collyn have been bowling. I sat and enjoyed watching them bowl, and Lyndon helped them roll the ball down the lane. Alden asked if we could go bowling again. They really enjoyed it.

Happy 3rd Birthday Collyn!

My baby boy turned 3 on August 5th. Where did time go!? He is growing so fast. He is such a sweet little guy, with a wild streak! He is our family clown who likes to entertain. Our dinner table is always laughing every night with his silliness.

This year has been a little different with his birthday. We celebrated his birthday a day early since we had Youth Group on his actual birthday. Then, Lyndon left for the fire, so we had to postpone his friends party to this coming Saturday. Either way, he has been enjoying the presents and love he has received.

He requested a Daniel Tiger Birthday cake. I like to put toys on the cake as decoration, so they have the toys to play with later.

We had dinner as a family and then opened presents! Of course, the main theme was Daniel Tiger!

After presents, of course we had CAKE! He asked for a vanilla cake with white frosting. I added sprinkles! :)

The next morning, on his actual birthday, I made a special pancake breakfast and we celebrated again. Then the boys played with all the new toys!

Happy Birthday Mr. Collyn! I can't believe you are 3!

California Fires!

California is officially on fire! The whole state! It is crazy! We live in Northern California, so we are close to many huge fires burning. There were some mornings we would wake up to ash all over everything. Our sinuses hated it! It has been getting better as time goes on.

Lyndon left Friday to head to a fire. Since it was declared a state of emergency, Lyndon was on-call to head to one of the fires. He got the call last Friday and will be staying there until Friday or Saturday. He is at the Fork Complex Fire outside of Hayfork, CA.

It has definitely made it crazy around our house without daddy around, but we are surviving. It has been a long few days, to say the least.

Jump Start 2015

Alden went to Jump Start again this summer. It is a week long preschool camp put on by the recreation department here in town. They go from 9 AM - 12 PM. They learn, do crafts, play, go on a field trip, have guest speakers.... It really is a wonderful program!

He was a little nervous the first day, but there were some of his friends there, so that helped. This is the same place he will be doing preschool this year.

Collyn had a hard time without his brother around for a few hours a day, but it was a great test run for the school year. Collyn will get to go to Jump Start next year. He is very excited about that.

Baby #3: Olivia- 27 weeks

Wow! Was my last baby post really at 23 weeks!? I have been falling behind! Life this summer has been so busy! We have been going non-stop! Here are some updates on pregnancy #3 with little Miss Olivia.

About Olivia: She is weighing in at about 2 pounds and is around 14 inches in length (According to Babycenter.com). Her eyes are open and she can see light. Her brain, lungs, and heart are fully developed. Now, it is time to mature those lungs and get some fat under that skin. She is wiggling like crazy. No matter the time of day, I feel her little kicks.

Weight Gain: From starting weight- 18 pounds. I gained quite a bit this last month, but since I was behind from the beginning of the pregnancy, my doctor wasn't too concerned.

Symptoms: Aching hips!!! Oh my! This little girl loves my hips. She kicks them all day and night and it is putting a toll on them! They are just achy. I've learned walking around helps stretch them out and then resting. Sleepiness- I toss and turn at night to get comfortable, which I know will only be getting worse. I have to get up at least 2 times a night to use the restroom, so sleep isn't so great right now. I've been shutting my eyes for 10-15 minutes during the day while the kids are playing or watching a show, just to rest a little. I can't see my toes... It's official.

Sleep: Again, not great sleep. Tired a lot. I get a good amount of sleep each night, but not consistent.

Cravings: Lemonade and grapes

Best Moment: Hitting that 3rd trimester check-point. Hearing the heartbeat at the doctors appointment.

Looking forward to: The end of the 3rd trimester! ;)

27 weeks down! 13 to go!! Getting closer!

Mommy, Why do we go to church every Sunday?

As I was getting ready this morning for church, of course we were running late. We are were tired from the day before and I overslept. My loving husband quietly left for church before we woke up to give us a little more rest. However, that gave me only 30 minutes to get myself, plus a 4 and 2 year old dressed and ready to go. And, they wanted to ride their bikes to church, which I needed another 5-7 minutes to be able to do.

I rushed around like a mad woman. I got the kids clothes laid out on the couch and told them to get dressed and I would help them with any part they couldn't do, since they both had buttons on their shirts. I ran into the bathroom and took a quick shower. When I was dressed, I came back to the living room to find my kids still in their pajamas playing on the floor with toys.

Okay, I got this!

I dressed them and told them to find their shoes. I went to the kitchen and poured some cereal for breakfast. We rarely have cereal for breakfast and of course my 2 year old wanted scrambled eggs. No, sorry. Cold cereal this morning.

I went back to the bathroom, put my make-up on and combed out my hair and put it up in some clips. No time for a blow-dryer or curling iron this morning. I grabbed my bible from my nightstand and tossed it in the diaper bag. The kids had their shoes on and I slipped on my flip-flops. They grabbed their helmets and while I was snapping the straps, my 4 year old stops me in my tracks with this question...

"Mommy, why do we go to church every Sunday?"

My quick mommy response in the moment... "That's just what we do."

He wasn't satisfied.

"But, WHY? Why do we go?"

I stood in front of him for a few seconds to collect my thoughts. Remembering he is four I said,

"We go every Sunday to learn more about God. To build our relationship with Him"

He felt satisfied and headed out to get on his bike.

During the 5 minute walk to church, I started thinking... WHY do I go to church every Sunday?

I grew up in church. It's what I did. But, thinking harder it is so much more.

There is no other place I go where I feel so connected with others of every generation. The moment I walk in the door, the music playing quietly through the speakers in the hallway and sanctuary, I feel the overwhelming presence of God. There are the hand shakes and genuine tight hugs. People know me there. They know things within my personal life, they know my struggles, they know my needs. Sometimes it's just a friendly 'Hello' and small talk, and sometimes I seek out the person that needs the hug and smile and truly ask how everything is going, knowing there is struggles in their life.

There is no other place to sing praises to God with many other people praising him with me. Hearing the voices around me, lifting their hearts to Jesus, inviting him into their hearts, crying when they are hurting, some with hands in the air, some sitting silently with their heads bowed. Everyone completely entranced by His presence.

There is no other place to partake in the Lord's Supper. To eat the bread with other believers, and drink from the cup. Honoring Jesus. Remembering just what he did for us. Every Sunday, I get to be part of such a beautiful moment. Thanking God for everything He has done in my life.

There is no other place to sit and listen to the word of God be spoken. Learning, soaking everything in, evaluating my own life. Opening that Bible and learning deeper the meaning of it all.

There is no other place to fellowship with others after the service. To sit over a cup of coffee and a little snack, growing together in life. Knowing the connectiins their are safe and genuine. The love that pours out of that place in overwhelming.

My kids are loved there. They run around with friends. They go to Sunday School and learn from generations before them about the love of God.

It is a family. It is a community. But it is so much more.

So, why do I go to church every Sunday? There are so many many reasons!

It starts my week fresh. It rejuvenates my soul. It helps me get through hard times. It is my life.

I am a Christian. I love Jesus. I love the community of followers that I can come to each week and recharge my batteries. I hope my children feel this same passion as they grow.

My 4 year old makes me think a lot. He made me stop and evaluate deeper why I do what I do. Sometimes going to church every Sunday is routine. It's 'just what we do'. But to step back and realize it is so much more.

God's love for us is so overwhelming. No words could describe that love. But, going on Sunday gives me a glimpse of that love. And, that love is through the body of believers, praising Him, honoring Him, loving others and serving others. Nothing can describe that love.

San Francisco Giants Game

On Monday, we were able to go to the Giants vs Mets baseball game in San Francisco. It was lots of fun!!

After Alden's swimming lessons in the morning, we came home, ate lunch, and packed up for the 2 hour trip to San Francisco to watch the game.

We arrived early because it was firefighter appreciation night and there was some pre-game festivities for certain ticket holders (We were included in that). We were all given a free blanket, that the boys still absolutely love... They are using it right now... In the middle of July...

After we entered the stadium, we went to the kids section. The boys were able to go down some big slides and hit a baseball and run the bases in a mini baseball field for kids just their size. It was perfect! We were also able to watch batting practice before finding our seats.

Once we made it to our seats (Which was extremely far up for this prego to climb!!!) Lyndon headed back down for some hot dogs and popcorn! Because a baseball game isn't complete without hot dogs and popcorn!

The game was lots of fun. Unfortunately, the Giants didn't win the game, but we had such a fun time! The boys absolutely LOVED it! By the end of the game, Alden had fallen asleep.

We didn't get home until around 1 AM, but we got the boys dressed for bed in the parking garage after the game so we just slipped them into bed when we got home. It was lots of fun!

Happy 4th of July 2015!

The day after we arrived home from our month long trip to Idaho, it was the 4th of July. We had ZERO plans for the day, which is exactly what we wanted! We were all completely exhausted. I unpacked all the luggage from the trip, cleaned up the house and went grocery shopping. During the shopping trip, I bought some cupcakes for the boys to celebrate with.

That evening, Lyndon BBQ'd hamburgers and hot dogs and I made some side dishes. We planned on having a movie night, but it didn't work out as planned. Alden fell asleep early. Collyn and I went out onto the trampoline (Sweating like crazy because of the heat!) and watched the local fireworks show. There were some trees in the way, but it was enough to satisfy a 2 year old. We headed back inside after about 10 minutes and Lyndon cuddled up with Collyn in the recliner and I snuggled with Alden, who was asleep in our bed.

It was a very relaxing, low-key 4th of July. Just what we needed!!!

Our Trip To Idaho!

This June, just like last summer, we headed to Idaho for 3 weeks. (Lyndon came up a week and half later and stayed for 10 days)

The beginning of June the boys and I flew from Sacramento to Boise. They did amazing on the flight and my sister Susan and her girls were there to pick us up at the airport.

We stayed a couple days at my sisters house before heading up to McCall, ID for a week with my family. We spent the whole week at a cabin in the woods, close to Payette lake and enjoying the nice mild weather of the mountains. The kids enjoyed swimming in the lake, going fishing, exploring the area around the cabin, hot tubbing, and playing hard!

After the week in McCall, we headed back to Weiser, ID and met Lyndon at his parents house. We spent the next week and half staying at their house, spending time with Lyndon's parents and brother, grandma Kay, and going back and forth from their house to my parents house to spend time with everyone. We were able to celebrate Fathers Day with family and had a BBQ at Grandma Kay's house. We went to the carnival in Weiser for the National Oldtime Fiddlers Contest. We watched a parade, watched my nieces dance at the park and watched some baseball games.

After our long trip, we were all ready to head home! We drove 5 hours one day to Lakeview, OR and stayed the night at a Hot Springs. The boys enjoyed staying in a hotel room and playing in the warm pool!

On our way home, I also hit the 22 week mark of pregnancy!

We drove another 5 hours the next morning and made it back to Willows in the afternoon. We were all very happy to be back to our own 'stuff'

It was a fun-filled trip!!! I have a feeling this will be a tradition each summer.

Baby #3: Olivia- 23 Weeks

It's been about a month since I updated on Miss Olivia. We have had a long, fun, eventful month (I will update on that in a different post.) She is growing, growing, growing and wiggling like crazy!!!!! I can't believe I have hit 23 weeks already. This pregnancy is flying by!

I had my 23 week doctors appointment on Thursday. Everything looked good. She is active, her heartbeat sounded good and I am doing good. The doctor is predicting she will be around 8 pounds at birth. We will see if his predictions are correct in a few months! :) I have one more appointment in 4 weeks and then I am into doctors appointments every 2 weeks!!! Can you believe it?! 3rd trimester is creeping up on me quick!

Here are some updates on little Miss Olivia.

ABOUT OLIVIA: According to babycenter.com, Olivia is about 11 inches in length and a little over 1 pound. She can hear things from the outside now. Which is very evident because any loud noise startles her and she kicks and wiggles when any of the boys talks to my belly. She wiggles like crazy and is all over the place. Her favorite time to kick is late at night when I am laying in bed. I have a feeling that is because I am finally not moving (These little boys keep me busy!)

WEIGHT GAIN: From beginning weight: 12 pounds. Vacation really showed up this appointment! I gained 7 pounds this past month. Which isn't too bad because I was behind the curve the last few months.

SYMPTOMS: Achy back!!!! My belly always gives me back aches during every pregnancy. I've learned to lay down for a few minutes a few times during the day to relax my back and take a break. Braxton Hicks contractions. I've had a few BH contractions here and there, which is completely normal for me. I've dealt with them every pregnancy. I'm not getting too many right now, maybe one or two each day, especially when I'm super active and then sit and relax. Other than that, I've been feeling really good!

SLEEP: Eh, who needs sleep right?! ;) My back will ache during the night, which makes me need to sit up on the side of the bed and stretch it out a couple times a night, which then causes me to have to go to the bathroom. I'm not exhausted, so I guess I am still getting enough sleep at night.

CRAVINGS: Lemonade! I drink it like crazy!

BEST MOMENT: Hearing that little heartbeat again. Feeling her little kicks throughout the day.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: Hitting the 3rd trimester in a few weeks!

23 weeks down... 17 to go!

Baby #3: 19 Weeks

We are headed to Idaho for a few weeks, so I am going to do my update for 19 weeks a day early. Which works, because I had my Doctors appointment yesterday. (And ultrasound!) You know what that means! We know the gender of the baby!

Lyndon was able to make it to this appointment with me. Something always came up the last pregnancies, so he was never able to make it to the anatomy ultrasound. He made it this time!!! So, we found out together that Haines Baby #3 is healthy, active, right on track and....

A GIRL!!!!

We will be adding a little sister into the Haines family! We are thrilled! We have decided on the name

Olivia Mary Kayline Haines

The middle names are honoring the grandma's of the family: Mary-Gaile, Kay, and Arline

Here is an update on our little girl:

ABOUT OLIVIA: Ultrasound looks wonderful! Olivia was doing wonderful, wiggling around in there. Wiggling so much, the doctor had a hard time getting measurements. Very active baby!!!! She is around 6 inches in length and around 8-9 ounces. Everything looked good. Heart, lungs, brain looked great! She is growing wonderfully and right on track.

WEIGHT GAIN: (From starting weight) 5 pounds. I gained 4 pounds since my last doctors appointment. They were very pleased to finally see some weight gain. So was I!

SYMPTOMS: Achey pelvis, hips and stomach muscles. Everything is stretching and moving at a rapid rate right now and I am definitely feeling it! I'm still tired. Not as tired as I have been, but bedtime sounds wonderful every night. I have had a few bouts of morning sickness (Still! Ugh!) But, nothing too bad.

SLEEP: Much better since my last update. My coughing has gotten better so I am able to sleep better during the night. The boys are growing, so they are going to bed earlier and sleeping harder through the night. We haven't had anyone in our bed for the last week, so that has been nice.

CRAVINGS: Sweets!!! Cookies, Cakes, Candy, Chocolate!!! It's awful! I'm trying really hard to avoid it, but I give in every once in a while to satisfy the craving.

BEST MOMENT: Finding out we are having a girl!!! I'm going to have a daughter for the first time! Lyndon was also thrilled! We high-fived in the ultrasound room when we found out.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: My relaxing trip to Idaho for a few weeks! We are leaving this afternoon.

19 weeks down.... 21 to go! Almost half-way there!

Baby #3: 17 Weeks

Has it been a crazy few weeks OR WHAT!? My last update was at 14 weeks. The day before I hit 15 weeks, I felt like I was getting a cold. The next day (day I turned 15 weeks) I had 100+ degree fever for 3 days. I was MISERABLE!!! I finally went to the doctor and found out that I had influenza, an upper respiratory infection and a slight ear infection. From Thursday until the next Wednesday I was laid out in bed. All I could take was my antibiotic and Tylenol. I am still trying to fully recoop from the bug. I still have a consistent cough, which I was told took a while to get over. I just wish I could take some good cough medicine. But, I will power through with no meds. A few days ago was the first day I was able to get up and do things around the house without having a coughing fit and be out of breath. I am still staying pretty relaxed and not doing much to make sure I get over this 100%. But, let me tell you, it's been awful.

However, Baby is kicking up a storm and at my 16 week appointment the heart beat sounded wonderful.

Here are some updates for 17 weeks:

About Baby: The baby is about 5 inches in length and weighs about 5 ounces. (About the size of a turnip, according to babycenter.com) He/She is kicking up a storm and moving and wiggling. I feel more and more movement every day. We set the date for our ultrasound, which is June 9th, to find out the gender. The day before we fly up to Idaho for a few weeks.

Weight Gain: (From starting weight) 2 pounds. I was gaining weight pretty steadily, but for about a week I had no appetite and felt like crap, so I lost some ground. I'm hoping to gain some weight this week.

Symptoms: Nothing too significant. I can't stop coughing, so my ribs are hurting and my stomach muscles are achy. I don't know if I should blame that on Baby or the coughing. Baby Kicks are the biggest one right now.

Sleep: Horrible sleep. I am up in the night coughing. And, I can't just cough laying down... Oh no... I have to sit up on the side of the bed to really get a good cough in. I'm hoping once I stop coughing as much I will start getting better sleep, because I am exhausted most of the day.

Best Moment: Hearing the heart beat at the doctors appointment last week. I was a little concerned about Baby with how sick I have been, but the doctor said everything sounded and looked good (Besides my weight gain)

Looking Forward To: Gender Ultrasound!!!!

There is a little update at 17 weeks. I've just been trying to survive the last few weeks. More updates next week!

17 weeks down.... 23 to go!

Baby #3: 14 Weeks

14 weeks down! Whoo hoo! Time is flying. The Haines house is super busy this time of year, so there is no time to slow down. Which makes the weeks go by so quickly. This last week was busy busy busy!!! Friday I had my blood drawn at the lab for my 1st pregnancy blood draw. Saturday I was at a wedding all day taking photos, Sunday there was church in the park (I was too exhausted to go since I got home so late from the wedding), Monday and Tuesday was editing days and catching up on housework, Wednesday was youth group (2 lasagnas and 5 dozen cookies made) and a family session, and today I have a preschool meeting for Alden's new preschool class next fall. WHEW!

*To check out the photography from the wedding this weekend, head over to my photography page stacyhainesphoto.blogspot.com

Here is an update on the little one who is growing like crazy and trying to keep up with this family!

About Baby: Size: 3 1/2 inches (About the size of a lemon... But much sweeter of course!) and weighing in at a whopping 1 1/2 ounces!!! Small little thing in there, but definitely growing like crazy!

Weight Gain: 4 pounds (From starting weight) 2 pounds (From last week) GROWTH SPURT!!!! I was shocked when I stepped on the scale this morning. I was a little surprised, but a little happy also knowing that morning sickness is almost a thing of the past and weight gain is a sign that baby is growing and mommy is taking good care of the little one.

Symptoms: Bulging Belly. There is a sign that there is a baby in there. I am showing MUCH sooner this pregnancy... Which I was warned about. Aching Hips. With how much I've been on my feet this last week, it's not surprising that by the end of the day my hips are starting to ache. After laying down for bed, the pain goes away. Aching Feet. Same reason for the hip pain. Nightmares. I have nightmares almost every night. They wake me up and I have a hard time falling back to sleep. If it isn't a nightmare, it is a extremely vivid, strange dream. Morning Sickness seems to be almost gone. If I do too much during the day, I get a slight feeling of morning sickness right before bed, but nothing too intense.

Sleep: I've been getting a good 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Other than the nightmares, I have been sleeping pretty good. I've been adjusting myself in the night more from side to side because of my hips. This happened at this point with the other pregnancies, and it keeps going (And gets more intense) until I deliver.

Cravings: Nothing too crazy yet. Again, Eggs. I crave scrambled eggs in the mornings. I think my body just needs that extra boost of protein in the morning.

Best Moment: Feeling the kicks and wiggles. Obviously nothing on the outside, but I love feeling the little wiggles. Also, surviving my first wedding of the season. It was a 10 hour wedding, so I was EXHAUSTED by the end! But, it was so much fun!

Looking Forward To:Feeling more kicks and wiggles. And of course, scheduling that ultrasound to find out the gender!!!!

14 Weeks down, 26 To Go!!!

Until next week!!!

Baby #3- 13 Weeks

13 weeks!!!! 2nd Trimester!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

I know that things can still go wrong within pregnancy, but hitting that 2nd trimester is such a relief and I feel like I can take a deep breath and start connecting more with this little lady/little man inside of me. Now the realization is REALLY hitting... I'm going to have 3 KIDS!!!!! I'm officially going to pass the national average of children. Crazy.

Here are some updates on the little one!!

About Baby: Size- The baby is 3 inches in length and weighs 1 ounce. About the size of pea pod. Baby is growing like crazy and now that it's major development is complete, it's time to GROW GROW GROW!!! Which makes sense why I am so hungry all of a sudden! Baby is kicking up a storm in there. I feel flutters here and there. Last night I was making a meal at church for youth group and there was a definite kick down low. I know what that is!!!! Obviously, nothing you can feel on the outside, but I love this stage. It's like my own little secret with the baby. I know it's kicking, but no one else does. Our own little connection. I love it.

Weight Gain: Still 2 pounds. No weight gain this week. I've been watching my weight gain a lot more this pregnancy. In the first trimester, I was supposed to gain 2-5 pounds. I gained 2. So, I'm right on track. I have also been exercising to keep myself healthy and eating extremely healthy. Lyndon, the boys, and I have been walking for about 45 minutes to an hour each night (The boys ride their bikes). We have a walking path a block from our house, so it is so nice. We feel comfortable letting the boys ride their bikes without worry of cars. I have been walking 1- 1 1/2 miles per night. It helps with my energy also. I am eating very clean this pregnancy, unlike the last two. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean meats. Obviously I have treats here and there, but they are TREATS! Not something I eat all the time.... unlike the last 2. :)

Symptoms: Morning Sickness has pretty much subsided. I feel so much better and things are looking up! Thank goodness. Exhaustion has slowly subsided also. I obviously have days where I am more tired. I still have a 4 and 2 year old in the house, but for the most part I have energy again. Other than that, I've been feeling good.

Sleep: Sleep is good. I have been getting pretty good sleep this last week. Other than the boys getting up occasionally, but I feel rested. The only thing I am dealing with this pregnancy that I didn't with the last is very vivid dreams and nightmares. Some nightmares will wake me up in a cold sweat and out of breath. I can't seem to fall back to sleep right away. Bathroom breaks are another problem. I get up at least once a night to go to the bathroom. I guess that means I'm getting enough hydration during the day!

Cravings: Eggs. Peanut Butter. Not together. Scrambled eggs in the morning is usually my go-to meal. I make it into a breakfast burrito with some cheese and salsa. Delicious and healthy. Peanut butter is my go-to snack. Either a half sandwich with peanut butter or apples and peanut butter, but I'm craving that peanut butter and eggs.

Best Moment: Feeling that little KICK! I've been feeling flutters, but that kick was a 'MOMMY! I'M HERE!" Kick. Absolutely in love.

Looking Forward To: Finding out the gender in a month and a half. I still have a feeling it's a girl, but you never know!!!!

13 weeks down! 27 to go!

So happy I'm in the 2nd trimester!

Baby #3: 12 Weeks

12 Weeks down! Can you believe it? Almost done with my first trimester! And, very excited to get out of the first trimester! Here are a few updates on Baby #3!

About Baby: Size: A little over 2 inches. The size of a lime. And weighing in at 1/2 an ounce. I've felt a few more flutters here and there. Usually late in the evening when I'm completely relaxed. Best feeling ever. Baby is wiggling up a storm! I had another ultrasound this afternoon at my appointment and the doctor could barely register the heart rate because the little stinker was wiggling everywhere. It took him a good 5 minutes to get everything he needed because the baby was too busy moving around. He was even impressed at how much the baby was moving this early.

Weight Gain: 2 Pounds. I gained a pound this last week. Good sign that morning sickness is going away!

Symptoms: Morning sickness seems to be almost a thing of the past. Fingers crossed! I have only had a few days this past week (Which was only a few hours at a time) of some slight nausea. Nothing compared to what it was. I am able to eat pretty much everything again. Not much is turning my stomach at this point. However, Exhaustion has not left. Mid-afternoon I hit a wall and usually feel the need to take a nap. But, that never happens with two kids running around. I try to sit back, drink some ice water, and relax for a while to get some energy back. Other than that, everything seems to be going pretty good. Just a little tired, but I can handle that. Early pregnancy symptoms are starting to go away, Praise the Lord!

Sleep: Sleep is getting better. Not too much insomnia in the middle of the night anymore. However, I have been having crazy VIVID, random dreams! I've read that it is completely normal, but my goodness, some of those dreams are crazy. But, I do feel like I'm getting rest at night. Collyn's cough is getting better. We are thinking it's just allergies, so he is sleeping better at night.

Cravings: Nothing too crazy yet. I'm just happy to be eating again. I think protein would be the one thing I crave. I love to have scrambled eggs in the morning. I try to keep breakfast a very HIGH PROTEIN and LOW CARB meal. I've noticed lots of carbs in the morning make me shaky and feel not great. But, nothing too weird with cravings yet. Food tastes good again. That is a plus!

Best Moment: Seeing Baby on the ultrasound this afternoon!! Nothing beats seeing that little one wiggle all over! Feeling little flutters are always wonderful!!!!

Looking Forward To: My next appointment! At either that appointment OR the next one we get to find out the gender!!!! :)

12 Weeks Down!!!! 28 To Go!!!!! Time is FLYING!

Here is my bump picture this morning... Week 12

With a surprise ultrasound this afternoon, I was able to see Baby again!! Absolutely in love already. Heart rate was 175. This little one was all over the place. This was the clearest picture he could get because the wiggler wouldn't sit still for a second!

Until Next Week!

Chores: How it works in our house

My kids are 4 and 2 1/2. Obviously at the age of being able to help around the house. After explaining to multiple people our family chores, I had mixed replies. Some thought I had the kids doing too much and some thought it was completely appropriate. However, I thought I would break down how chores work in our house.

Obviously, our chores are age-appropriate. Some chores result in a small payment of money, some are every day chores that doesn't receive a reward.

First, what chores does each child do?

Alden: Age 4

Every Day- (No compensation received):
MORNING
1. Make bed
2. Brush teeth
3. Get himself dressed
4. Take pull-up to trash can, Take PJ's to laundry room
5. Living room clean-up- Either pick up toys OR pick up clothing and shoes (This chore switches every day with his brother)

EVENING
1. Set table for dinner
2. Clean plate after dinner, scraping food in trash can and putting plate, silverware, and cup in sink
3. Help mom or dad with dishes (Putting silverware in dishwasher or help clear the table)
3. Put on own pajamas and pull-up
4. Brush teeth

Random chores that he earns money for is:
*Taking pajamas from laundry room and putting them in drawer in bedroom
*Stripping bedding off his bed and bringing all bedding to laundry room
*Helping clean up toys off lawn outside so daddy can mow
*Finding all laundry around the house (Bedrooms and bathrooms) and bringing them to laundry room
*Picking up toys in bedroom so mommy can vacuum
*Cleaning preschool room (Room with all their art supplies and little tables.... It's technically a breakfast nook we've made into a 'preschool' room)

Each chore earns 50 cents to $1.00. This sounds like a lot, but these chores (Plus others I can't think of) are how he earns different toys he wants. He is at the age of 'I want that toy!" every time we head to the store. I have no problem buying the toy for him... usually one toy a month (Since they are usually between $5-$10) but he has to EARN the toy. The boys have also learned that if they both want a toy, they can put their chore money together and get a toy they both can use.

Collyn: Age 2 1/2

Every Day-
MORNING
1. Brush teeth (Which I brush them for him)
2. Get Dressed without a fight
3. Take diaper to trash can and take PJ's to laundry room
4. Living room clean-up- Either pick up toys OR pick up clothing and shoes

EVENING
1. Put napkins on each plate for dinner
2. Clean plate after dinner, scraping food into trash can and putting plate, silverware, and cup in sink
3. Put on Pj's without a fight
4. Brush teeth

Random chores that he earns money for is:
Same as brother's, since they usually do these chores together

KEEPING TRACK OF CHORE MONEY:
At the very beginning of chore's I gave each child the amount of money they earned, in cash, and they were able to put it in the piggy bank or a zip-lock baggie to save, however, we lost a lot of money that way. Now, mommy is a banker. I keep track of all chore money on the white board in our kitchen. Alden has his "account" and Collyn has his "account". Each time they earn money, we go to the board and add the amount of money onto what they already have. It is also easy when we go to the store, since I don't add in tax to their toy. If they want a $10 toy and they earn $10, we pay for the tax. When they had cash-in-hand it was a scramble at the register to find coins in my wallet to pay for the rest of their amount. Now, I pay all together and don't have to worry.

Every few months we add or take away a chore based on age. With our growing family, every little bit of help I can get helps. I want to teach them young that for a home to run successfully, every person has to contribute. Also, I want them to learn that they don't just get things, they have to earn things, like toys.

What are some chores your kids do and what are their ages? I would love to hear your feedback, since I'm obviously still learning.

Baby #3: 11 Weeks

Another week down! Time is FLYING! Things are getting better, symptom wise, which I am SOOO happy about! Fingers crossed it keeps getting better and better from here on out. Here is a little update about the Haines Baby #3.

About Baby: Baby is about 1 1/2 inches long (About the size of a fig) It is moving and grooving in there. I felt a teeny flutter the other day when I was completely relaxed, but other than that, I haven't felt any movement. I'm not supposed to for a few more weeks, but with this being the 3rd pregnancy, I know what to feel for.

Weight Gain: Still 1 pound. No weight gain this week. I'm expecting some weight gain in the next couple weeks, since my appetite is coming back. Thank goodness.

Symptoms: Morning sickness is subsiding. I had 2 or 3 evenings where I didn't feel great, but I ended up just laying in bed watching Netflix and sipping Sprite, which helped. Other than that I have felt pretty dang good this past week. No real complaints. Food is sounding good again. My exhaustion is getting better. I don't feel the need for a nap in the middle of the day and I'm not crashing into bed at the end of the day. Sleep is always wonderful, especially with little ones in the house, so I never complain about a good nights sleep. Alden had an ear infection this week so I wasn't getting much sleep with that. Hip Pain has begun, just like my last pregnancies. My hips go back after every birth, so my body has to re-stretch to make room for baby. Stretching, walking and yoga has helped this pain immensely! I've had a little bit of nesting. I decided I needed to organize the laundry room, leaving Lyndon confused where everything was, but it was nice to have the energy to want to organize!

Sleep: No complaints with sleep. No discomfort at all when moving around at night. I wake up remembering not to lay flat on my back and I am starting to really enjoy my body pillow again. Other than that, I am feeling like I'm getting enough rest, most nights.

Cravings: Iced Tea with Lemon. I drink LOTS of water and iced tea during the day and my mom introduced me to this powdered lemon (Actual lemon) and it's DELIGHTFUL! No serious cravings yet. Just thankful food sounds decent.

Best Moment This Week: Family in town. Alden's last T-Ball game. Feeling a tiny flutter. And, getting a little bump. Good things are happening in there and in our home!

Looking Forward To: Next doctors appointment next week. Soon we will be scheduling an appointment for another ultrasound to find out the gender! It's crazy how fast this pregnancy is going!

11 Weeks Down, 29 To Go!

Until Next Week!

Family Visit!

Since February, we have had a guest in our house at least every few weeks. And, we wouldn't change it for the world! It is so nice to have family in town, since we don't get to see them that often. In February, Lyndon's grandma Kay and his brother Kolton flew down for a long weekend trip. In March, my sister Susan and her family came down for a long weekend, over Easter weekend Lyndon's parents drove down for a long weekend, then Tuesday after Easter my mom and grandma drove down for the week and on Friday we picked up my dad and my brother Johnny from the airport to spend the weekend with them.

On Sunday afternoon, Lyndon's parents headed back to Idaho.

On Tuesday morning, my mom and grandma drove 10 hours down here. They got here late afternoon and surprised the kiddos. The boys were a little shocked, but were very excited that they came. I made a lasagna, bread, and salad that night for dinner. Lyndon had a fire meeting, so he didn't get home until late. We sat and talked in the evening and we called it an early night since they were both exhausted from the long drive and I was just exhausted, like normal.

Wednesday was very relaxing. I was having some morning sickness so I didn't want to do much that day. It was cold and rainy so the boys weren't able to play outside, but we were able to spend some more time talking and catching up. We started a fire in the fireplace during the day which was nice. Youth group was that night, so we all headed to the church and my mom and grandma helped me make the dinner, Loaded Potatoes. Which was such a great help because I still wasn't feeling amazing. We ate dinner there and headed back home while the boys stayed with Lyndon at youth group, playing in the church nursery. We stayed up late that night talking. It was lots of fun.

On Thursday, again, we just spent time with one another. The boys played outside, showing my mom and grandma there backyard and their trampoline. We went and bought some groceries and my mom got the boys the BIG plastic balls to play with. Of course they had to take them on the trampoline. That night, I was feeling up to it so I made dinner. Meat loaf, homemade scalloped potatoes and my mom made a really good salad. Alden also had T-Ball practice so we went and watched his very last practice of the year. The whole team (Including Collyn) got goodie bags for a job-well-done. They did a great job this season.

Friday morning, we headed to the airport to pick up my dad and my brother Johnny. Then, we headed straight to the Sacramento Zoo. However, it was spring break and EVERYONE was at the zoo. Across the street from the zoo is Fairytale Town. So, we went there instead. We all had a wonderful time. We will definitely go back again.

After Fairytale Town, we headed back home, but stopped at In-N-Out Burger for lunch before. Once we got home, some people took naps, but we all rested from the busy day. That night we snacked for dinner, since we had a late lunch.

Saturday morning, we headed to the t-ball fields for Alden's very last t-ball game. Almost every family member was able to see him play this year, which makes my heart melt! I was so afraid with being so far away that we weren't going to be able to share the experience with anyone, besides videos. But, they did! Lots of family got to see him play! After his game there was the closing ceremonies for T-ball and he got a trophy. I'm so proud of my little guy and happy my family got to see him experience it!

After the game, we came home, changed our clothes and headed to Chico. We took the family to the Italian Cottage for lunch and went to the movie theater to watch 'Home'. What a cute movie! After the movie, my mom grandma and I went to Goodwill to find some good deals and the boys went to Sportsman's. After we came home we made a BBQ dinner and talked for a while before everyone headed to bed.

They all left early this morning to head back to Idaho. It was a wonderful week!
