Spring Family Pictures

Last weekend, we had our family pictures taken. Not just the Haines family pictures, but my side of the family's pictures. There were about 20 of us there to take pictures. We spent 2 1/2 hours in front of the camera. It was a great time. The kids got restless at the end, but all the pictures turned out great.

Here are my parents and my little brother Johnny. Also, my grandma Davis

My sister Sarah's family (Alexie, Emma, and Parker)

My sister Susan's family (Cody, Hannah and Hayden)

The Sickness Continues

Well, after the stomach flu during Easter, to nasty colds 2 weeks later, I figured we were on the mend. I took Collyn in earlier last week because he had a cough and I wanted to make sure it didn't go to lungs. His lungs were clear and things were looking good. Just the good ol' common cold.

2 days later, Alden woke up with a little yellow gunk in the corners of his eyes after nap time. I didn't think anything of it, I just cleaned them out. Within 2 hours, they were covered in green goop (Gross, I know). I took him to a walk-in clinic in town.

The outcome.

Pink Eye. Both eyes.

AGAIN....

He had pink eye a few months ago and was put on antibiotics. Within 4 days he was in a head-to-toe rash and blisters because of an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. That amazing eye drop antibiotic was a 4 day 3 times a day eye drop.

Convenient.

Since he couldn't use that one this time, we have a 6 time a day (Yes, 6! which means every 2 hours... with a 2 year old) OINTMENT that you have to put across the bottom eye lid.... 6 times a day.... with a 2 year old.... You see where I'm going with this... Yep. Disaster.

To make it better.

10 days of antibiotic. TEN!

We are on day 5. Things are going okay. He has been rewarded with LOTS of M&M's for sitting still. The poor kid is tired of it. So am I.

We have a trip that we are going on this Thursday... With the antibiotic. Yay. :)

Is cold and flu season over yet?

Last weekend, the dancers made their way to Meridian, ID for the Team Dance Competition at Mountain View High School. We had 4 groups go. They all did a wonderful job! I am so proud of all of them!

Jazz 1 performed their "Proud Mary" routine in the Mini division. They won 4th place.

Jazz 2 performed their routine "Shake Your Groove Thing" in the Junior Division. They won 4th place and the "Best Costume" award.

Jazz 4 performed their routine "Pound The Alarm" in the Teen division. They won 3rd place.

Jazz 3 performed their routine "Lip Gloss" in the Teen divison. They won 5th place.

6 of my girls competed in the "Dance Off" right before awards. One of them made it to the semi-finals and one of them made it to the finals. Great job girls.

I am so proud of all my dancers who competed!!!!

They Grow Too Fast!

Alden- 2 years

Collyn- 8 months

Where does time go????

Fun at Jump Time

The youth group went to Jump Time Idaho in Meridian, ID this past week.

Normally, the boys and I aren't able to go on the youth events because it just isn't baby/toddler-friendly. However, this is one place we were able to go.

Jump Time is a HUGE place full of trampolines with a dodgeball area, basketball area, and a foam pit (All trampolines) for the older kids. There is a Junior area that has mini trampolines, bounce houses, a little foam pit, fun little things to climb on.

Alden absolutely LOVED it! We were there for 2 hours and it didn't seem like it was that long. Alden jumped the whole time.

He finally sat down for the last 10 minutes to get a drink of Powerade and eat a piece of pizza.

He slept GREAT that night. What a fun time!

We will have to go back again sometime. <

Collyn- 8 Months

Our precious baby boy is 8 months old. Pretty soon I will be planning a birthday party. I can't believe it! Here are some updates:

GROWTH: I haven't measured Collyn since last month. He goes in next month for his 9 month check up so we will know how much he weighs then.

SLEEP: We are doing great with sleep. He had the flu a few weeks ago, so it took him a few days to get back on schedule, but he is pretty much sleeping through the night. Bedtime is at 9:30 PM and he will sleep until 5:30 AM (Sometimes he wakes up at 11 PM to nurse). He will nurse at 5:30 AM and sleep until about 8 AM. He takes 2-3 naps each day. Morning nap at 10 AM, afternoon nap at 1 PM, and sometimes an evening nap at 6 PM. He is sleeping in his crib in his room and does really well with it.

EATING: I am still nursing, but not exclusively. I am slowly weening Collyn from nursing. I have dropped 1-2 feeding per day nursing and given him a bottle instead. I will nurse in the morning right when he wakes up. He has breakfast, usually oatmeal with a fruit puree. Then, he has a bottle before or after his morning nap. I feed him lunch which is usually a veggie puree and a finger food. He goes down for his afternoon nap and then I will nurse him when he wakes up. He has a bottle before dinner. Eats dinner. Then, I nurse before bed. I want to nurse until he is one, but he really needed to learn how to use a bottle/sippy cup because he was refusing both. He now can use both a bottle and sippy. New foods this month: Scrambled eggs, chicken, beef, turkey, noodles, ham, broccoli

CLOTHING: 6-9 Month

DIAPERS: Size 3

DEVELOPMENT: Crawling. More of an army crawl, but he is on his way... and he is quick! He can pull himself up to his knees by a chair. Sometimes he can pull himself all the way up to standing. He can self-feed lots of soft foods. He waves Bye-Bye. He goes from sitting position to crawling position. He holds his own bottle.

Happy Easter From The Haines Family

Easter was different this year. I can't even really say it was a good easter. The boys had fun with family, but the whole family had passed around the flu bug.

The Easter bunny came to our house the night before bringing the boys Easter candy, some movies, cars, finger paints, and toys.

I got the boys ready while Lyndon was layed out on the couch sick. The boys and I went to church. We usually go to both services, but there was no Sunday school and Lyndon wasn't there so I just went to the 2nd service. The boys napped on the car ride home. Our church is 2 towns away which is about a 30 minute drive. This is the only nap they got... This kind of tells you the attitudes they had the rest of the day.

We went to my parents house for easter dinner and an egg hunt. Lyndon was still layed out on the couch.

The dinner was great! My mom always does a great job. All the kids had a great time searching for eggs.

Easter Dinner at Grandma Kays

On Saturday evening, we went to Lyndon's grandma and grandpas house for an early Easter Dinner. We ate outside, which was so nice because that is not normal for Idaho weather. She made us Ham, green bean casserole, homemade mac and cheese, fresh veggies, and dessert was fruit and fondue. It was delicious.

Alden played in their yard with all his toys that he hasn't seen since last summer. He fed the chickens in the coop and gathered eggs. He filled up the water tank for the cows, "drove" the tractors and then really got to drive the 4-wheeler around the farm.

Collyn was passed around to everyone and was able to sit on some of the equipment.
