Oh... Good Ol' Doctor's Appointments

With my prego brain, I scheduled Alden's 15 month check-up with my 24 week check-up on the same day at the exact same time. Thank goodness the doctors are in the same building. Lyndon took Alden to his appointment and I went to mine.

We laughed as we walked in saying that these boys already have us going in opposite directions.

Alden is doing amazing!!! The doctors scale said he was 23 lbs 7 oz and my scale at home said he was a little over 26 lbs. I asked Lyndon why it was so low and he said they had him stand on the scale this time. HA! A busy 15 month old standing on the scale to get an accurate weight reading. That's funny! So, he is somewhere between 23 and 26 pounds. He is 31 inches tall.

He is doing everything that a normal 15 month old is supposed to be doing. Very busy and active and perfect as can be (I added the perfect part) :):)

My doctors appointment went great. I have gained a total of 15 pounds this pregnancy. The baby's heart beat sounded good. He found it right away. I was able to get some tips on medications I can take just in case this cold is just too much for me to handle. As you know, I'm not a huge medicine fan, so I probably won't take anything, but it's good to know that I have a back-up plan if needed.

My pregnancy is going pretty routine so far and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

I am scheduled for my glucose test in 3 weeks and another check-up in 4 weeks. Alden has his next appointment at 18 months.... Right before my due date... With shots. OH JOY!

Going Green

So, I have always talked about changing all my cleaning products to "green" cleaning products. I just have never taken the time to change it all around. I'm planning on doing the vinegar based cleaning products. It was just so easy at the store to grab the bottle of Clorox or Comet and keep going.

It all changed yesterday.

I was doing the dishes yesterday afternoon and Alden was, of course, at my legs the whole time. He plays with the cupboard doors and drawers that are at his level. We haven't gotten around to putting ALL the safety latches on all the cupboard doors, but he hasn't had a huge interest in the under-the-sink cupboard, until yesterday.

I told him to go play in his room after he had opened and closed the sink cupboard. He started to walk off and I looked at him. He had the bottle of powder Comet in his hands. I ran to him and told him "No", but when I looked at him, it was all around his mouth and on his hands.

Talk about a panicked mom! That was me. The back of the can said "Drink water to dillute." That is just what i did. The poor kid drank LOTS of water! Just to be safe I called Poison Control and they helped me through it too. I had to keep an eye on him the rest of the day just in case, but I caught him in time that nothing too scary happened.

I through the bottle out and I am planning in the next week to trade out all my chemical based cleaners to natural cleaners. At least if he gets a hold of those things I was be too panicky!

Also, after work, Lyndon went to the store and got the WHOLE kit for baby proofing. So, play on Alden! :) You are taken care of! :)

My first experience with a Neti Pot

While I am pregnant, I dont like using medications for really anything, unless I absolutely have to. This last week I came down with the Spring Cold that is going
around. Without taking medication, I have been trying everything to help ease the pain. The first 2 nights I slept with a Vicks Vaporizer by my bed, which helped a little bit.

I have been drinking lots of hot drinks to keep my throat feeling a little better, but nothing seemed to be REALLY working like a good pill would do.

Lyndon has done a Neti Pot before, and told me I should try it. I had a huge fear that I was going to drown or choke on the water. We put Alden down for the night and I boiled my water. I put it in the freezer so it would cool to luke warm faster. I put the saline stuff in the water and went to the sink.

My patient husband talked me through it and I panicked the first few attempts and couldn't do it. Then, I finally got the water up into my sinuses. I was so plugged up it took about 5 seconds for the water to break through the gunk and finally make it to the other side.

I actually slept decent last night.

Of course, it doesn't cure the extra stuff that has come today, but I am planning on doing it again tonight.

What a strange experience, but I would recommend it to anyone who likes more natural ways to ease the pain of a stuffed up head.

15 Months

Alden is 15 Months old!!

It's crazy that I have a toddler in the house!!

GROWTH:
Alden is weighing in at 26 pounds (75th Percentile). He is getting really tall. I haven't been able to get his length because he is so stinkin' wiggly its hard to keep him still long enough.

EATING: He is still drinking Almond milk. He didn't do good with dairy milk, although we are going to try to introduce it again in the next couple weeks. He drinks 2 milk sippy cups each day with water and juice in between. He is completely off of baby food. He will eat some baby oatmeal for breakfast sometimes, but it is added with some apple sauce and scrambled eggs. He is eating 3 meals per day and 3 snacks in between. He hasn't tried anything new this month that I can think of because he eats everything we eat.

CLOTHING: 18 Month - 2T

DIAPERS: Size 4

DEVELOPMENT: Alden is walking everywhere and getting the concept of running. He helps me get him dressed. If I ask for him to get his shoes, he will go to the door and bring them to me. He plays with toddler puzzles and will stick them in the right spot... sometimes. He can color with crayons. He is climbing on everything and can slide down a slide by himself.

SPEECH: He can say: Momma, Dadda, Susu (Aunt Susan), Hannah, Hayden (Cousins), No, Ow, Sophie, Jacey, Dog, Cow, Moo, Woof, Firetruck noise, Bye-Bye, Car noise, Thank You, Please, Go

He talks like crazy all the time, but most of it I can't understand. It is lots of fun and I am enjoying this age. He is learning something new everyday!

22 Weeks

I am now 22 weeks along! This pregnancy is going by so fast!!!

About Collyn:

He is measuring around 11 inches long and around 1 pound. Fine hair is forming on his body that will fall off before he is born. He is wiggling like crazy. I can feel more jabs every day. He is growing fast. I still can't believe how fast it is going.

About Me:

I have gained a total of 11 pounds. I am still teaching dance every week and keeping myself active. I am not as tired anymore, although still more tired than last pregnancy. I am in "Nesting" stage. It always starts earlier with me than others. I have re-arranged furniture and I am now planning a yard sale to get rid of lots of unused items in our house.

I still haven't discovered any stretch marks on my belly. Even though they say lotions and creams don't help, I still spread it everywhere every morning. :)

About The Family:

Alden is 15 months old. He is growing like a weed. I will explain more about that in another post. Lyndon is still working like crazy. He is with Idaho Garboligist and West Valley Church. We are doing great and getting things ready for the new baby to come. In the next couple weeks I am going to be pulling out Alden's old baby clothes for Collyn. We have to get a new dresser for Collyn. Then, we will set up the boys room. :)

Until the next update- Enjoy the warm weather! :)

Happy Easter 2012

He Is Risen!

Happy Easter everyone! :) I hope you all had a wonderful day! :)

The Easter Bunny made it to our house. Alden got a Bunny stuffed toy, 2 books, 2 Matchbox cars, and a chocolate bunny. He had more fun with the grass then with the toys. He really enjoyed the cars. He plays with them like crazy.

Our morning started out going to church. The past few months I have had to stay in the nursery with Alden because he won't stay in there without me. Easter morning, he seemed to be doing okay, so I went into the service and sat with Lyndon for 10 minutes before going to check on him. As I was leaving the sanctuary, the nursery helper was coming to find me. He was crying hysterically for me. I finally got him calmed down and stayed in the nursery the rest of service. For the 10 minutes I was there, it was a great service. :)

After church, we came home and layed Alden down for his nap. He took a short nap while I made my Fruit trifle for the Easter dinner at my parents house.

We ate at my parents house for Easter. What a great meal!!! :) Alden loved it too!

Then, the kids had an Easter egg hunt in the front yard. Alden learned that there were goodies in the eggs, so he tried opening every one before he put them in his basket. He got about 8 eggs because of this while the other kids got 20 or 30 eggs. :)

Egg Coloring

On Saturday, we went to my parents house and colored Easter Eggs. I helped Alden color 3 eggs and then gave him a snack so he could stay with the big kids, but not get into the dye. The other kids colored his eggs for him. :)

We must have wore him out that day because he fell asleep at 6 PM and slept until morning. I didn't even get him into pajamas or have him eat dinner. He was a tired boy!

Church BBQ and Egg Hunt

The day before Easter, our church put on a BBQ and Easter Egg Hunt. My sister and her girls came with us. There were games to play, face painting, a puppet show, photo booth, and a balloon realease.

Alden loved the egg hunt. He didn't really understand anything else. All the kids had to sit and listen to instructions before the egg hunt. Alden sat down with all the kids and listened like a big boy. My little guy is growing up too fast.

He loved picking up eggs and learned the concept really fast. He got quite a few eggs and actually found an egg with a ticket in it and won a Matchbox car! :) Very lucky!

Then, we had a balloon realease. Alden didn't understand it at all. He wanted to keep his balloon but eventually he let it go and clapped. I'm so glad he didn't cry.

It was a great time!! :) It's so nice that Alden can get involved and understands what is happening! :)

The Aquarium

Last week, Alden and I were able to get out of the house and enjoy some family time with my parents, my grandma, and my little brother. I definitely needed it. I was getting Cabin Fever and getting kind of depressed with all this lousy weather.

Even though it was pouring down rain, Alden and I followed my parents to Boise. We started at the Boise Aquarium. This is a pretty new aquarium. Alden really enjoyed the fish and the Sting Rays and Sharks. It was PACKED that day because it was so rainy and spring break. My thoughts were, everyone came there who wanted to go to the Zoo, but couldn't because of the weather.

Thankfully, my dad carried Alden most of the way through the aquarium. It was so busy I didn't feel comfortable letting him down and walking around.

Alden didnt really understand the "Touch Tank". He liked splashing in the water instead.

After the aquarium, we went out to lunch. Then, we made a Costco run for diapers, JC Penney, and Kohls. I got Alden and Collyn some new clothes and Lyndon some new shoes that he has been looking at.

It was such a great day. :)
