HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA!!!!

Alden's Welcome Party/Baby Shower

The church put on a baby shower for me, but did it after Alden was born. So, it became a Welcome Alden Party. We opened presents, had cake and punch, and everyone passed him around and held him. He slept through most of his own party, but everyone thought he was adorable anyway. He got some really amazing gifts. Some were homemade! The talent people have! I was very amazed and blessed for all these gifts! Thank you to everyone who came and gave gifts!! :)

Here are people at the party

He wouldn't wake up, so I decided we would pass him around while he was sleeping. He didn't care one bit. He kept sleeping.

What's In My Diaper Bag??

I read a blog from a girl who has a baby a month older than Alden. She put this on her blog, and I loved the idea, so I had to do it too!! :)

Photobucket

1. DIAPER BAG: I had such a hard time deciding on a bag, a family friend went a picked one up for me. I was so thankful! It is nice and big and has lots of little pockets where I can put little things.

2. SOCKS: I always carry a second pair of socks in the bag. This is because I will sometimes put Alden in sleepers, and he doesn't wear socks with them. If I change him into pants while we are out, he needs socks.

3. BURP RAG: This is a beautiful homemade burp rag. Alden doesn't spit up much, but we carry it just in case.

4. HAT: Winter in Idaho is cold. Whenever we go out, we slip a hat on Alden.

5. CHANGING PAD: This came with the diaper bag, and has come in handy many times!!!

6. DIAPERS: I carry about 5 or 6.

7. WIPES: I have a small carrying case of wipes.

8. NOSE SUCKER: I'm not sure what else to call this. Sometimes Alden will sneeze, so we will clean his nose out afterward.

9. BABY LOTION: Idaho is a very dry area. Alden's skin dries out if we don't lotion him.

10. BOTTLE OF WATER: This is for making bottles on the go. I have a bottle carrier in the bag. I put the water bottle in the bag with a gel heating pad so his water is warm.

11. MEDICAL BAG: This holds nail clippers, thermometer, his vaccine card, and other small needed items.

12. HAND SANITIZER: For those times when you can't wash your hands.

13. CHAP STICK: For me.

14. BOTTLES: I usually carry 2 to 4 bottles (With dry formula already inside, ready to go).

14. (Again) (I messed up on numbering): LOTION FOR ME: Again... Dry Idaho weather

15. FORMULA: I have a sample size can of formula if I need it.

16. CLOTHING: I try to carry shoes, onesies, a sweater and a sleeper with me

Johnny Drives The Garbage Truck

I was watching Johnny for my mom one day, and Lyndon had to stop by the house before he finished his garbage route. When he stopped, Johnny was able to go with him in the truck! He was so excited.
They drove out to the Idaho Garboligist office. Alden and I followed them in the car. When they got there, they had to pick up a dumpster and deliver it to a home that was close by. They had to pick it up with the trucks arms and drive it there. While they were coming up the office driveway on their way back, Lyndon had to "Adjust his hat" so Johnny was able to steer the truck for a few hundred feet. He was so excited to tell me about it!
What a fun experience!

Here is Johnny in the truck ready to go! (The drivers seat is on the right side of the truck, that is why he is sitting on this side. There is a steering wheel on his side, that is why he was able to steer while Lyndon fixed his hat.)

6 Weeks Old

Alden is still growing fast. He is changing so much the past few weeks!
He is weighing around 11 pounds and is 22 1/2 inches long (This is Lyndon and my calculations, we measured him this last week ourselves).
He is learning to smile and grins when Lyndon and I (Or someone else that will smile at him) walks up. He is loving his Baby Einstein playmat. He is reaching for toys that are hanging. His new favorite love is a swing that was given to us last week from a family friend, Katelyn. She has a son that is almost a year old and grown out of the swing. Thank you Katelyn! He loves it!
Alden had his first youth group experience last night. He was passed around to all the girls. He is also going to my dance and tumbling classes every week while I teach. Lyndon picks him up when he gets off work.
Alden is only getting up once a night now. Which, Lyndon and I are excited about. He goes to bed about 10:30 PM and wakes up around 4 AM for a feeding and then sleeps until about 8 AM. We are very excited about this!! He is eating around 4 ounces of formula at a feeding. During the day he eats every 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Here are some pictures of our little guy!

Growing Boy

Our little guy is growing so fast. I weighed him last week at my parents house and at 5 weeks old he weighed almost 11 pounds. He's starting to smile and coo. I love it. Here are some photos of what has been going on...

Alden fell asleep while we were watching TV one night. Lyndon put the remote in his hand so he looked like a typical guy...

Alden has a friend at church. Her name is Kendal. She was born a day after he was, in the same hospital. She is itty bitty. Her mom said she is finally up to 6 pounds!! Our chunker is much bigger than that! Here they are at church at 2 weeks old.

Alden loves his play mat. He lays under it for about 30 minutes a day and plays. Sometimes he will fall asleep under it.

Alden Holds His Head Up

Alden is slowly holding his head up. He will hold it up for about 20 seconds, look around and go back down. Lyndon had him on his chest the other night and he used his arms to push himself up and look at his daddy. It was adorable. I caught it on camera. What a cutie. He's pretty sassy with his head.

One Month Old

Our little Alden is one month old. Can you believe it? It's crazy how quickly time flies when you aren't getting sleep and all you do it change diapers and make bottles. :) Just kidding.
Alden is such an amazing little boy. We have been struggling a little with sleep this past week. I think it is because he is hungry and the formula isn't filling him up enough to sleep more than a few hours at a time. He has been getting up every 2 to 2 1/2 hours this week. Which makes for a tired momma!
At the beginning of this week, we went to church. Alden got the hiccups half-way through the service, and when he gets hiccups he tends to spit up. So, we went and sat in the nursery for the rest of the service. It was nice. I was able to talk to the girls there and he got to see the nursery. After church, he went to Fiesta Guadalajara for the first time. This was the mexican restaurant that we told our families we were expecting. He slept through the whole meal. Then, he had his first trip to the grocery store. He just sat in his carrier and looked around the whole time.

He is still enjoying his baths. My dad, sister, brother, and niece were able to come over on Tuesday night. It was Alden's bath time so my niece helped me bathe him and my dad took pictures. It was fun to have them over and experience bath time with us.

On Wednesday, Lyndon woke up not feeling well. He had a horrible headache and his stomach was upset, so he stayed home from work. It is double duty with a newborn and a sick husband. I was making chicken noodle soup and changing diapers all day! I was exhausted. He also stayed home on Thursday because of it.

On Thursday, I had my 4 week check-up. Everything is looking great and the doctor said I am able to go back to teaching dance. Alden and Lyndon went with me and we got to show him off. On a happy note, I am weighing 136. I have lost 27 pounds since I delivered. I'm hoping to lose another 10 pounds and I will be happy.

We had an enjoyable week, even though we haven't gotten much sleep. I wouldn't change it for the world. Here are some more pictures of Alden from this past week.

I was able to capture a little smile today. He has been smiling here and there for the past few days, so I tried to get him to smile and get a picture. The camera was kind of slow, so this is what I got. :)

Until our next update, I hope everyone has a wonderful February!! :)
