We relaxed...

Alden and daddy cuddled up.

Sarah showed us her find on the beach. A Mini sand dollar. I've never seen one this small.

We played with toys... and wigs!

And the girls watched people walk by with their binoculars.... That was interesting to watch.

A Bike Ride To The Rocks

The beach house we stayed in provided us with bikes. We rode them a lot during our stay. One day, Lyndon, my dad, my neice Hannah, and I rode down to an area where there are rocks. If you look closely you can find fun little sea creatures.

Hannah and I after our ride to the rocks.

Lyndon and Hannah searched for fun things.

Beach Fun

After we did some window shopping downtown, we came back to the beach house, loaded up our beach gear and headed to the water! The weather was AMAZING that day! It was sunny and warm (Not normal for the coast). The kids played in the water. Lyndon and i took Alden down the beach looking for sea shells.

The kids really enjoyed building (Or attempting to build) sandcastles.

They got quite sandy during this...

my dad even came to help build with them

Cody napped, and burned... The girls woke him up by piling sand on his stomach! :)

Alden just enjoyed the water and the weather

With a light breeze, they were even able to get their kites in the air.

Downtown Seaside

My sisters, their families and our family went downtown Seaside. They have fun little shops where you can buy clothing, salt water taffy, toys, kites, you name it. We enjoyed walking through the different shops.

During our shopping adventure, we stopped at a local restaurant called Pig N Pancake. I think they serve breakfast all day, and this is why it has it's strange name.

I didn't get breakfast, I ordered fish and chips with clam chowder. YUM! Lyndon had a hamburger with fries.

After our lunch, we went to the Carousel Mall. It is named this because, of course, their is a carousel in the middle of it. I took Alden on it. I am prone to motion sickness, and right after lunch, going in circles was interesting to say the least. I didn't lose my lunch and Alden enjoyed the ride.

Seaside Aquarium

Seaside has a cute little aquarium that we went to. They have seals that you are able to feed, an octopus, weird sealife, a touch tank, and starfish the girls loved picking up.

We started out at the aquarium at the seals. You were able to buy food to feed them, but we didn't buy any because Alden was too little to truly enjoy it.

Photobucket

He loved watching the seals do their tricks. Jumping up on the rock, swimming their backs, diving for food...

Photobucket

Then, we went and checked out the octopus

Photobucket

I think the octopus is ugly and nasty and creepy. Alden wasn't quite sure about it either.

Photobucket

We then found a weird eel type fish. I'm not sure if it was an eel, but it looked like one. Alden fell in love with it.

Photobucket

We sat at that tank for almost 5 minutes while he stared and tried to touch it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

It sure was an ugly little creature.

Photobucket

We found another tank with a different octopus in it. It showed us it's underbelly which was interesting to look at.

Photobucket

The girls really enjoyed the touch tank. They were able to pick up different animals and feel them.

Photobucket

Of course, me being a germaphobe, I made them REALLY wash their hands after handling the fish and animals.

It was a fun trip to the aquarium.

First Night At The Coast

Our families (My parents, grandma, my sister's families, and us) stayed in a beach house while we were there. It was right on the beach and AMAZING! It took us literally 2 minutes to walk to the water.

Before the house was even ready for us to go into, because the cleaning ladies were still working, the kids wanted to go to the water.... and thats what we did.

It was so nice to play on the beach. It's been quite a while since I have been to the ocean.

It didn't take long for everyone to go put there toes in the water. The Oregon coast is chilly. The highs in July are mid-70's. The water is freezing. Ankles were really as far as anyone wanted to go.

When our house was ready we all settled in for the evening. The girls went grocery shopping for the meals we were making for the week and snacks. My dad picked up pizzas and we ate pizza for dinner.

Driving Through Portland

Portland, like any bigger city, is a little confusing to drive through. It is about 2 hours away from the coast, so we knew we were almost there. It was a little crazy, but the traffic wasn't too bad.

We were stopped I promise!
