3 Weeks Old

Photobucket

Alden is growing so quickly. I can't believe he is 3 weeks old already. This week has been good. Alden is sleeping more during the night. We are getting 3 to 4 hours of sleep at a time and he is awake more during the day.
He is enjoying his Baby Einstein play mat. He will lay under it for about 20 minutes and watch all the fun toys above him. He's been to more places this week. He had his first Sunday at church. He slept through most of it. Lyndon preached that day and Alden could hear his daddy's voice but couldn't see him so he was looking around everywhere for him. All the ladies at church enjoyed seeing him for the first time. Also, yesterday we went to dinner for a Friday night date. We went to Romio's, like always, and he did amazing. The waitress thought he was a cutie. He's already good with the girls! :) We then had a dessert/meeting at the church and he went. He slept through the whole thing. He did amazing.
This week he has also gone to both grandparents houses. All my nieces held him and he was loved on and passed around for hours.
This week for Lyndon and I has been good. We have been getting a little more sleep, so we aren't walking zombies as much as we have been. Lyndon has been working tons so he hasn't been home that much. Alden and I keep ourselves busy with cleaning, laundry, dishes, and eating, changing diapers and bathing.
I won't keep updating each week... I just figured I would update each week for the first month and then every once in a while after that.
Until next time...

Alden's 2 Week Check-Up

We had Alden's 2 week check-up this morning. My mom went with me because they had to poke his heel for a PKU, and I wasn't quite sure how I would handle it.
Alden did amazing. He wimpered a little bit when they poked him, but nothing too bad. He is such a tough little guy!
The doctor checked his weight and he is weighing 9 pounds 2 ounces and is 20 1/4 inches long. He is getting to be a big boy! :) He is seeing around 2 feet in front of him. Everything is looking good. Very healthy!
He has his next check-up at 2 months!
Time is FLYING by!!!

2 Weeks Old

Oh how I love motherhood! It is the best job in the world.

Alden is growing, growing, growing. He is changing so much so quickly. He is still really calm and content and doesn't cry too often. He is still sleeping most of the day, and getting up about 3 times per night to eat. He went for his first outing to The Golden Horse chinese restaurant here in town. A family from church took us out to eat! It was so nice. He also had an adventure to the grocery store and both grandparents houses.

Lyndon went back to work this week. I'm still trying to get into a routine, which is coming together pretty well. I'm feeling much better. I'm no longer on any pain medication and still taking my iron pills and my antibiotic.

Life has been really good! Lyndon and I have been enjoying being parents and having a great time getting to know our son. The visitors has slowed down so we are able to spend the evenings together as a family. I've started cooking dinners again and getting things back to "normal".

Here are some highlights of our week:

Here is how Lyndon found Alden. The light was just too bright for the little guy! :)

Alden is already playing XBox with daddy. They played NCAA football. Alden slept through it.

We tried out his bouncer seat. He liked it for a while, but then wanted out...

Helping Daddy Hold The Bottle

When Lyndon was holding Alden and feeding him, Alden put his hand on the bottle like he was helping him hold it. When Lyndon tried to move his hand from the bottle he held on as tight as he possibly could! It was so adorable!

Alden's just like Daddy and Papa

When my little brother was a baby, my dad made him a fire department onesie. It was passed down to Alden. Lyndon is also on the fire department, so Alden looks just like his daddy!

1 Week Old

Our baby boy is 1 week old! We survived the week.

Alden is doing great. He had his first doctors check-up on Monday. He only lost 1 ounce and weighs 7 pounds 10 ounces. They measured him at 20 1/2 inches long, so we think that they measured wrong at the hospital the day he was born. He has been a little jaundice, so we have been trying to get him in the sun as much as we can, which is hard in winter because it has been storming the entire time he has been here. He seems to be less yellow, and is filling up those diapers, so I think the jaundice is going away. He is still sleeping well during the night. We get up about 3 times per night, but he goes right back to sleep after he feeds, so it is nice. I have been both pumping breastmilk and supplementing with formula. Our little guy eats more than I can supply. He definitely likes the breastmilk better.

I am doing good. During delivery, he came out with his hand by his face, so I tore. He also bruised my tailbone. I am walking better and I don't have to be on as many pain medications. I am taking iron for breastfeeding. Today, I went to the doctor because I was having pain when I would use the restroom. I found out I have a full-blown bladder infection. I heard it is very common after having a baby. So, now I am on an antibiotic 4 times per day.

Things are going great. Lyndon was able to have the whole week off, so it was a great transition. I love being a mom and he is so sweet and adorable. I couldn't ask for a better son, husband, or life. Life is good! :)

Like Daddy Like Son

Lyndon and Alden were taking a nap together the other day. They were so stinkin' cute. Alden looks just like his daddy. They even sleep the same.

Their arms are the same, their heads are facing the same direction, and they look so much alike.

I love these two boys in my life.

Best Friends

Our cat and dog, Jacie and Sophie are so funny. They act like they hate each other, but this is how I caught them the other night. Deep down, they love each other and are best friends!! :)

Our First Days Home

Photobucket

Alden is such an amazing baby. I couldn't ask for a better son! He is so content and happy all the time.

Our first night home was a struggle. I was nursing him, but he seemed very cranky. At 1 in the morning our first night, he was miserable. He had drank everything from me and was still starving. We tried giving him a pacifier to help him until more milk came in, but he sucked me dry. At 5 in the morning, Lyndon drove 20 minutes to Wal-Mart (With no sleep) to get him some formula.

After he got his belly full, he was a happy camper and slept for 4 hours.

Last night, he went to bed at 10 PM, was up at 11:30 PM to eat, slept until 1AM, ate, then gave us 3 whole hours. He slept until 4 AM, ate again, and then was up at 6:30 AM.

He is sleeping really well. We have the bassinet by my side of the bed and he is completely content with sleeping in it. We've learned that if we set a rolled up blanket on his back so he is propped up on his side a little, he sleeps better.

Alden is a pretty quiet baby. He cries when he has a dirty diaper, or if he is hungry. Sometimes I will go check on him and he will be wide awake in his bassinet just looking around. We have NO complaints about our little guy.

I love being a mom. It is the best experience in the world. I wouldn't change it for anything.

Late morning of January 6th, I started having contractions about 15 minutes apart. Lyndon stayed home with me that day and didn't go to work because I figured I would go into labor at any time. We ran some errands, drove around, and my contractions got down to 10 minutes apart.

It was my mom's birthday, so we went and bought her a birthday card and my neices birthday was on the 3rd, so we bought her a gift. At 6 that night, we were supposed to go to dinner with my family for my mom's birthday.

We showed up at my parents house and I did not feel good at all. I wasn't really having contractions, I just felt really sick. Lyndon and I decided it would be smart to go to the hospital and get it checked out instead of going to dinner. When we got to the hospital I was dialated to a 4 and was in active labor.

Right after I got to the hospital (Around 7 PM), I got my epidural. What a life saver. At 11:55 PM, I started pushing. Our little guy arrived 20 minutes later at 12:16 AM on January 7th. 16 minutes after my mom's birthday.

He came out with the cord around his neck, so Lyndon wasn't able to cut his cord. Otherwise, he was perfect. I had some issues after delivery with bleeding. They hooked me up to some fluids and by morning I was feeling a little better.

We stayed in the hospital an extra day to make sure everything with my body was going smooth. What a bundle of joy!

Here we are right after delivery

39 Weeks

I didn't think I would make it this far. I thought this little boy would be here by now. But, here I am... 39 weeks pregnant.

Alden is completely developed and ready to enter the world any day now. He should be weighing around 7 pounds and be about 20 inches long. Our little guy is most likely around 8 pounds, if the doctors calculations are correct. He is still wiggling around in there and it is starting to hurt when he moves. I've learned once he wants to move around, I need to lay down on my side to give him so more room. Otherwise, I'm the one in pain.

I haven't been having any more contractions since our adventure to the hospital last week. I have had Braxton Hicks contractions (Of course) but nothing else. I am completely uncomfortable now. My hips and pelvis hurt so bad it is hard to get out of a chair or out of bed, which makes it hard with my 4 bathroom runs each night. Nothing has changed since last week. At our last doctors appointment, I didn't gain any weight, which means I'm getting close, so I've been told.

We have another doctors appointment tomorrow at 11:15 AM. We will see what the doctor has to say. Hopefully we will have some good news.

Until next time....

Easy Bake Oven

For Christmas, Hannah got an Easy Bake Oven. She was so excited to try it out. Lyndon asked Christmas day if she would make him some brownies in her new oven. He didn't know she would really do it.

My sister called and asked if she could stop by because Hannah made Lyndon his Easy Bake treat. Of course, if you have ever had an Easy Bake oven, you know it takes about 45 minutes to make a cake (Or brownie) that takes two bites to eat. Hannah and Hayden stopped by and let Lyndon eat his brownie. It even had chocolate frosting on top! I was allowed to have a bite too. It brought back so many memories. Hannah was so proud of herself, so I HAD to take a picture.

Here is Hannah and Hayden with Lyndon and the infamous brownie...

I'm Going To Be Pregnant Forever....

On Wednesday, December 29, I went to my doctors appointment at 10:30 AM. I was dialated to a 2 1/2 and almost completely effaced. At 2:30 that afternoon, I lost my mucus plug. Lyndon had to go to work, so I took a nap. My parents thought it would be a good idea for me to go to their house, just in case something happened. I started having contractions 15 minutes apart, then down to 10, then down to 7. Since we have a drive to get to the hospital my mom thought I should go in and see if anything was happening.

I was admitted into the hospital at 6:30 that night and was having contractions 2 to 3 minutes apart. I dialated to a 4. At around 2:30 AM, I was still having contractions, but I wasn't progressing and I was exhausted. They decided to give me some medications to help me sleep. After I was given the medicine, I slept 2 hours, but when I woke up my contractions had completely stopped. They had me start walking around the halls at 6:30 AM. Nothing was happening. At 8:30 AM, they gave me an Ambien so I would sleep. I woke up again at 12:30 PM and the doctor decided to send me home.

I am completely frustrated. I am still having contractions, but really inconsistent. I feel like I"m going to be pregnant forever. I was told to come back to the hospital when my water breaks. We are trying lots of things to kick-start labor again hoping something will happen. Nothing is working. We're not quite sure why labor stopped.

I will update more later...
